Meet Your Proofreader
Hi, my name is Monnie. I worked in the veterinary field for over 20 years -- first as a receptionist and then as office manager. During that time, I learned the ins and outs of how to keep clients (and their pets!) happy. To perform that job well, one must have a keen eye for detail, understand the importance of a deadline, and be able to perform under pressure.
I have used that experience in a veterinary office to serve as part of my training to be a proofreader. At first glance, you might not think a job in a veterinary office could aid in teaching how to proofread for court reporters, but you couldn't be more wrong. When one wrong word or misplaced digit could be the difference between an unhappy client who was mistakenly charged and a happy client, or even a healthy pup and a very sick pup, I learned quickly to pay attention to the details.
So how did I go from working in the veterinary field to becoming a proofreader for court reporters? Towards the end of 2016, I was looking for ways to make a little extra money on the side, but on my own terms and as my own boss. When I stumbled upon the Proofread Anywhere online course for transcript proofreading for court reporters, it was as if I'd been struck by a lightning bolt. People could do this from home and get paid for it?! I signed up immediately for the course and instantly fell in love with the court reporter world. A little over two years later, I took the leap, turned proofreading into my full-time career, and haven't looked back since.
To be able to read for a living and help others improve their work by doing so is a dream of an opportunity. I hope you'll allow me to proofread for you soon.
